Expanded Public Hours for Woodlawn

10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC)
647 Contees Wharf Rd, Edgewater, Maryland 21037 3702, US

Woodlawn, the oldest building in the Smithsonian, will be open to the public for expanded hours on the long weekend. Woodlawn's exhibit tells the story of the different groups of people who have lived and worked on what is today SERC's campus. It also tells the story of human impact on the environment, how the building itself can be a window into history and how this place fits into our broader national narrative.

We have several miles of trails on our 2,654 acres, including along Muddy Creek and the Rhode River and water access for non-motorized boats.
There is a separate sign up for the Sunday afternoon lecture and for Saturday morning bird hike and bird friendly coffee tasting. Please see those events to sign up. Open hours are not ticketed. Just drop by the Woodlawn History Center!
Friday hours: 10 am-4 pm
Saturday hours: 10 am-4pm
Sunday hours: 1pm-6pm

Trails: 8: 00 am-4:30 every day of the week!
