Join us at the Galesville Heritage Museum to learn about the Stephen Steward Shipyard, an American Revolutionary Shipyard in the West River! On March 31, 1781, British raiders burned both Stephen Steward’s shipyard and his home, marking a pivotal moment in local history as the site of Anne Arundel County’s only Revolutionary War battle.
Visitors are encouraged to participate in our programs to learn more about 18th-century shipbuilding along the West River and the Archaeology that took place there that helps us understand our maritime history.
