Scouts from Sea Scout Ship 1959, “Seafarers Commitment,” will put on demonstrations of seamanship skills that are learned and practiced in the Sea Scouting program. Visitors can join in activities such as rigging a sailing dinghy, tying knots, throwing a heaving line and talking on a 2-way radio, while learning about Sea Scouts, the nautical arm of Scouting America for youth aged 11 to 21.
Ship 1959 is hosted by the Seafarers Yacht Club and receives its principal support from the Seafarers Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to support youth, especially underserved in the Annapolis region.
