John Wesley Waterbury United Methodist Church Open house & guided cemetery tours

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
John Wesley Waterbury United Methodist Church
962 Generals Hwy, Crownsville, MD 21032

Celebrating 180 Years! And on Sunday March 22nd, the congregation will host an open house with guided tours of the cemetery by request between 1 and 4 pm. Enjoy light refreshments while you learn more about history in the Millersville community.

John Wesley Waterbury United Methodist church was established in 1845 after William H. M. Baldwin donated a small log cabin for the worship services of people of color under the leadership of a white pastor, H. L. Furlong, (as was required at that time.) The original log cabin was destroyed by fire in 1861 and a frame building, the Alexander Kennedy Chapel was erected in 1868. It was later replaced with a new structure which stands today.

Stay Local! Combine this open house with the Baldwin Hall tours just down the street, or the Rising Sun Inn nearby, both which will be open on Sunday March 22nd as well! Immerse yourself in Millersville’s rich history without leaving Zip Code!
